Welcome to a weekly column called Theory Thursdays, which will be released every Thursday and discuss my "controversial opinion" related to something relative to the week of release. Sometimes it will be birthdays while others is current events or a new film release. Whatever the case may be, this is a personal defense for why I disagree with the general opinion and hope to convince you of the same. While I don't expect you to be on my side, I do hope for a rational argument. After all, film is a subjective medium and this is merely just a theory that can be proven either way.

For many, director Wes Anderson's filmography has grown distinctly of a singular piece. His twee, almost to the point of parody, technique of turning the world into a children's book has made him one of the most excitingly distinct voices in modern cinema. His vision has become so distinct that it is possible to believe that it is all one vision. It is in this regards that I pitch to you The Dead Animal Trilogy. It may seem like a far fetched concept, but if you stick with me, I will show you why this may be been his ulterior motives all along.

Golden Globe Nominations 2013 Are Here, and Guess Who Got Ignored?

It is an exciting time for movie awards fanatics. With all of the nominations coming out, we are only a month away from when we finally get a peek at what will be nominated for this year's Academy Awards! Unfortunately, the Golden Globes have always been perceived in some way as a predecessor to the event and for no good reason. Each year, they mistake celebrity for quality with very few wins for the right people. However, that's kind of why they are my favorite whipping boy. I love to criticize their choices with a heavy hand. The following is a look at the nominations that were released this morning and my brief opinions about each category.

Here are Reasons Why "Moonrise Kingdom" Deserves a Best Picture Nomination

Is director Wes Anderson ready for a Best Director nomination? I'd like to think yes. With Moonrise Kingdom, he has taken the story of puppy love, transplanted it at summer camp, and turned it into one of the most endearing, heartfelt, and most of all original movies of the year. The leads Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman may have little experience at acting, but it doesn't show as they go through this light, breezy trip set to a retro soundtrack and features almost all of your favorite action actors in scout uniforms. How can this movie not be nominated for Best Picture?

"The Master" Starts off its Legacy by Breaking a Box Office Record

This past weekend, The Master opened in five theaters in Los Angeles and New York. Following a stream of positive feedback (A rating of 8.4 out of 10 on IMDb and 87% on Rotten Tomatoes), the movie has exceeded many expectations of the movie's simple debut. Following Paul Thomas Anderson's biggest achievement There Will Be Blood, the story follows a tale of a Naval veteran (Joaquin Phoenix) as he returns home distraught, looking for some semblance in the world, only to fall for a Scientology-inspired program called The Cause, lead by "The Master" (Philip Seymour Hoffman). How well did it do this weekend?
