Along with speculation on who will win, the Oscar season is an exciting time for a different reason. Once again, the great folks over at Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is hosting 31 Days of Oscar; an event meant to highlight films that not only won Best Picture, but other films ranging from shorts and documentaries to nominees from other categories. This year's line-up has been announced, and it definitely has plenty to be excited about. Whether you're watching for fun or want to fill in a few spots on your movie wishlist, it's best to give TCM at least a little time over the next month or so. The following is going to be a quick look at when you can see the Best Picture films, though it's encouraging that you watch the other movies, too.
Many films are great, but only one wins Best Picture. This is a blog dedicated to everything involving the Oscars past and present as well as speculation on who should win at this year's events.

Check This Out: TCM and The Criterion Collection to Launch FilmStruck Streaming Service
There is one simple fact: It isn't easy to be a fan of quality and classic films. For starters, tracking down the limited releases that fuel the Oscar season can be problematic if your local theater doesn't offer the solution. Beyond that, there's not too many digital opportunities that are cheap. Even Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other online streaming resources aren't as reliable as they used to be (Netflix in particular has recently come under fire for decreasing movie content in the past few years). This is why, despite being another streaming service, you should be very excited about FilmStruck. Launching on October 19, the service will offer the largest source of classic, independent, and foreign cinema available anywhere. If that doesn't get you excited, please keep reading to understand why you should give it a chance.

Check This Out: The Return of TCM's 31 Days of Oscar
If you're like me, you are obsessed with watching as many of the Oscar nominated and winning films throughout the award's history. With The Oscars coming very soon, it only feels right then to check out TCM's annual 31 Days of Oscar event. Every year, the classic films channel dedicates the month leading up to movie's biggest night by showing films related to a theme, often in regards to Oscar-nominated screenplays or performances from a given year, as well as a few Best Picture winners. So, what is going on this year? The following is the list of every Best Picture movie and what day you can catch them on TCM (check local listings for more information). In case you wish to see what else will be playing this month, please visit their homepage and check it out for yourself.

A Fun Way to Catch Up on Former Best Picture Winners: TCM's 31 Days of Oscar
As we count down the days until this year's Oscars ceremony on Sunday, March 2, it is as good of a time as any to catch up on the previous winners. For those like me who have made it a challenge to watch all of the Best Picture winners, this is an opportune time to catch up with most of the classics from the earlier decades. Along with these, there will be introductions by film historian Robert Osborne and additional Oscar nominated films not only in the Best Picture race, but also in the subsequent categories with each day focusing on a different spectrum (please visit their webpage for more details).
