While we're still trying to recover from last year's ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences along with ABC have announced the dates for the 87th Annual Academy Awards. Unlike this past year's events, next year will see a return to the end of February. While it was fun to continue Oscar talk for a few extra weeks, it is great to see it return to its formative month, as it allows for a more fluid transition into the upcoming year's events. The dates for everything from the Governors Awards to the actual telecast are listed after the jump.
Nov. 8, 2014 - The Governors Awards
Dec. 3, 2014 - Official Screen Credits and music submissions due
Dec. 29, 2014 - Nominations voting begins 8 a.m. PT
Jan. 8, 2015 - Nominations voting ends 5 p.m. PT
Jan. 15, 2015 - Oscar nominations announced
Feb. 2, 2015 - Oscar Nominees Luncheon
Feb. 6, 2015 - Final voting begins 8 a.m. PT

Feb. 17, 2015 - Final voting ends 5 p.m. PT
Feb. 22, 2015 - 87th Academy Awards begins 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT
With the earliest date here not scheduled until November, it seems strange that they would announce the schedule this early. However, it gives us all time to prepare for whatever festivities we wish to plan as the upcoming season provides. Who knows what this year will entail. After a great year of winners (and a lackluster ceremony), we have a lot to look forward to and see which film is the latest to join the ranks of Best Picture alongside past winners 12 Years a Slave, Argo, and The Artist.
