On December 4, 2015, actor Robert Loggia died at the age of 85 in his home in Brentwood, California. He was battling with Alzheimer's Disease since 2010, which lead to problems relating to his death. While not a household name, he was a supporting actor type who likely has been in more than one or two of your favorite movies or TV shows. Whether it be for his work on film in Big or Scarface, or on TV in The Sopranos, he was a prolific actor who was best known for his raspy voice and playing thug-types. He was an actor whose career spanned many decades and brought upon many memorable roles, including a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work in Jagged Edge, co-starring Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges. His career was special and something not to be trifled with.

Today marks the birthday for the two-time Academy Award winning actor Tom Hanks. Over the course of his career, he has gone from playing comedic roles in films such as Turner & Hooch to a more respected actor with dramatic roles like Saving Private Ryan and Cast Away. In honor of this occasion, it feels as good of a time as any to share a personal list of my Top 10 favorite Hanks performances spanning over his film career. If for no other reason, it will help to show the range and give you a better understanding as to why I consider him one of the best and charismatic actors of his generation.

The Oscar Buzz Celebrates Its Second Anniversary!

I am proud to announce that The Oscar Buzz has survived another year. It is quite an achievement that while the second wind wasn't nearly as strong as the first year, I continued to expand my audience and find new readers to interact with. I even ran The Directors Project, which for better or worse brought in new readers and helped the reader to better understand my interests as a whole. So, how do we celebrate the second anniversary? I have decided that in order to continue with the thematic elements that make these occasional lists so unique is to go with something that is not often thought of: the second films. While directorial debuts get a lot of clout, there's still some magic to be had with filmmakers on their second go. They need to prove themselves as more than just a lucky move. The following is a list of 15 films throughout history that I have enjoyed as the second go around for many fine filmmakers.
